What’s involved in making a musical?

Happy smiling woman with curly hair lounging on couch.

So, what’s actually required to get a musical made?

I’ve had a few questions from people about the process involved in getting a musical created, so I’ve set out the steps below.

1.     Create the floorplan. If you would like me to do this I’ll ask you a few questions, such as what your strengths and weaknesses are, whether you prefer to start in trot or canter, and how confident you are at the level.

2.     Get a video of you riding through the floorplan. The choreography may need to be adjusted slightly if it’s not the right length - I’ll let you know if this is the case. It helps to wear white or colourful boots/bandages so that I can see the horse’s legs clearly and filming from B/E works best.

3.     Upload the video to DropBox/YouTube/Google Drive etc. The videos are typically too large to attach to an email, so uploading online usually works best. You’re also welcome to send me the file on a USB stick if that’s easier for you.

4.     I will search for music to suit you and your horse (you can have as much or as little input into this process as you’d like). Once I’m happy with the selection I will send you short videos of your horse with the music to get your approval before moving on to arranging the music.

5.     I will arrange the music and send you an audio file via Email. I’ll also send your original video with the music overlaid so that you can see where all of the transitions within the music happen. This makes it much easier to learn the ins and outs of the music. I can also send CD’s/USB’s at your request.

6.     You’re ready to go! It pays to practice riding it a few times at home to make sure that the timing works for you. I absolutely love hearing how you get on, and constructive feedback is also always appreciated as I want to offer the best service possible and feedback helps me to do that!

I’m always happy to answer any questions you may have about musicals, so just flick me a message if there’s anything you want to know!
